Opening A Business
It's almost time! I'm sitting here waiting to publish my website www.jennaleeann.com finally. I figured I should write a blog about my experience and just describe the feeling I have right now.
Let me start by saying this...opening a business is NOT as easy as it may seem, even if it's just online. There is a lot of money needed and knowledge as well.
First I had to start off by paying for my LLC as well as my Tax ID number. Without either of those, I was not an established business and had no authority to do anything. Once I got my Sales and Tax Use Permit, I was able to be a legalized retail buyer and go on certain sites that aren't available to the public. This is where the fun started. I shopped around forever looking at hundreds of styles and colors as well as researching trends.
I've had a lot of doubt along the way by some people, but right now if the best feeling in the world knowing that in just 30 minutes, I will be starting my career and showing everybody what I'm made of.
Getting the website together was a LOT of work. This is NOT a quick process. I made my website the way I wanted it to be, simple and easy to use. The best part about owning a business is knowing it's exactly the way you want it to be. The worst part is thinking you could be letting people down or not living up to the standards you may have set for yourself.
At this exact moment I am EXTREMELY nervous to open my business. This is my career, my life, and everything I have worked on for the past 7 months. My best advice to someone who is starting a business or thinking about starting a business is not to set an opening date until you're 100% positive you can meet that date. I made the mistake of thinking I was going to open a few different times but as any business owner knows, there's a lot of things to push back the grand opening.
However, though I've talked about how rough this process is, the moment knowing it's finally done and ready for everyone to see is the best feeling in the world. It's really hard to write how I'm feeling right now, and I know I'm blabbering, but that's exactly the emotions I'm going through right now.
So to everyone out there reading this, I hope you enjoy my site. I know I cannot please everybody, but I hope I gain supporters and fans along the way, and I hope to make a difference in wardrobes everywhere!

Jenna LeeAnn Interview
Hello everyone! Only 12 more hours until the grand opening of www.jennaleeann.com! With that being said, I thought I'd start off the day with an interview I did a couple months ago. Hope you enjoy it!
Q- Why did you start Jenna LeeAnn?
A- I started Jenna LeeAnn because I had grown up in a family where entrepreneurship played a huge role in our lives. All of my family members started young so I figured it was the right time to figure out a business plan and a career choice.
Q- What was your inspiration to start JLA?
A- My mother was my inspiration. She told me how she once wanted to be a retail buyer but couldn't travel with us kids. I always loved fashion but I never wanted to work for someone else as my career so I decided to start my own retail business. This way I can be a retail buyer AND my own boss. Also, my fashion idol is Lauren Conrad. She inspires me to be a hard worker as well as a stylist for the everyday female.
Q-How did you get interested in majoring in business?
A- I got interested in majoring in business because I spoke with a few people in the fashion industry and they told me it was a key priority. Opening a business is very difficult at a young age when you have no experience. I figured that taking courses in business management could give me the knowledge I need to open a business successfully.
Q- What is your next step after Southern Connecticut State University?
A- My next step after SCSU is to move to a city and pursue my career with Jenna LeeAnn. I really hope to get this business growing so I can possibly open up stores all over. I plan on focusing my future on Jenna LeeAnn because it's my passion and it's something that makes me happy. I always live by the motto "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life".
Q-What is JLA and what does it sell?
A- Jenna LeeAnn is an online retail store which sells young contemporary clothing. For now, it is only women's clothing because that's what I have the most knowledge in. My company will sell everything from blazers, to pants, to sweaters. It will hopefully sell a lot of what every women from the age of 16-30 are looking for.
Q- When was JLA founded?
A- Jenna LeeAnn was founded April 2012.
Q- What is your favorite aspect of being in the fashion industry?
A- My favorite aspect of working in the fashion industry is being on top of all the new trends coming up. I also love being able to work with designers from California. The fashion industry is so creative and fun, it's my dream job.
Q- Why do you think your business is successful or will be successful in the future?
A- Though my business is not open yet, I do think it will be successful in the future because I have a good eye for trends and what people want in their closet. I know that I have amazing friends and family supporting me and hopefully I can inspire fans to support me along the way as well.

Fashion Photoshoot
If you've been staying updated with my company via Twitter or Facebook, you would know that I recently did a photoshoot for my winter line. Well, I'm here to tell you my experience/ what you might need for your own photoshoot!

- Water bottles/snacks
- The clothes
- Clothing clips to tighten the clothes if needed
- Safety pins/Scissors for perfection
- Towel in case is gets hot
- Music, you want to have fun with it!
- Make sure you have all of the outfits planned out for each model
- Get there early to set up the clothes
- Organize the outfits in order to make for a quicker shoot
- Have clothing clips ready if you did not size the model ahead of time
