Happy Fathers Day: Tribute To My Dad

June 23, 2016

Hey everyone,

This post is one of the harder ones for me to write, but also the most meaningful. No it will not be about what trends are in or out, or what my favorite look of the season is, but it’s a post about the man who is the reason I am where I am.

First off, I’d like to start off by saying Happy Fathers Day to all of the husbands and fathers out there. And most importantly, Happy Fathers Day to my Dad, who isn’t here with us anymore. He’s been gone since August 5, 2013, and not a day goes by where I don’t think about him(literally not one day).

I’m writing this post as a thank you to him, because if you have read some of my posts in the past, I have talked about how he was the one who supported me through everything. He was never telling me my ideas were stupid or naive. He never told me not to chase after my dreams right when I knew I had one. He told me he would help me as much as I needed it, though he knew I wanted to do it all on my own.

I want to thank him for all of the unconditional love he gave me. Playing basketball, listening to me play piano while he fell asleep, and watching me put on my fashion shows up on the balcony in our house. Growing up, I would sit on his chair with him and watch T.V. all night because he was tired from working all day. He was a successful man, with a great business, and a smart mind. I only wish I could be half the person he was.

I want to thank him for always sticking up for me. After being picked on by anybody, I can’t think of a time he wasn’t having my back. Telling me how they only pick on me because there’s nothing else to talk about. I’m the youngest of four, so of course I was being picked on growing up! When I wrote my letter for his coffin, I told him to continue to stick up for me, and he does. He’s the reason I grew confidence, and he’s the reason nobody’s words ever hurt me anymore.

I want to thank him for having faith in me. When I had my clothing line, I wasn’t even sure I had enough faith in myself. But he had all of the faith I needed. And he kept me going on my path towards the fashion industry, no matter which way I turn (management, blogging, buying, etc.).

Most importantly…

I want to thank him for being my Dad.
